The Heart Center of Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center is sponsoring a month of free, informational heart-related events held at BestHealth in Hanes Mall, unless otherwise noted. Becoming Mindful: Nutrition, exercise & self-care
1 pm Distractions and discouragement can sidetrack intentions to live a full, healthy life. Join Women’s Heart Health Coordinator Susan Butler, RN, for a discussion on overcoming barriers to making permanent changes.

12-Lead EKG Screening FULL
10:30 am to 5:30 pm Do you have a family history of early heart disease? Does your heart skip a beat? If so, you can have your heart rhythm checked with a 12-lead EKG. 6:30 pm Dr. Chad Miller from the WFUBMC Emergency Dept. shares what doctors are thinking when you complain of shortness of breath, fatigue, nausea and chest pain as well as tests you can expect such as a 12- lead EKG.

6:30 to 8 pm BestHealth, Belk and the WFUBMC Heart Center kick off Heart Month with this fun and engaging presentation of fashion and survival. Models ranging in age from the very young to the young-at-heart show off the latest fashions and share their stories of heart disease. Registration not required. Held in Belk Court at Hanes Mall. Getting to Know Your "EF"
6 pm The term "ejection fraction" refers to the percentage of blood pumped out of a filled ventricle with each heartbeat. This measures the capacity at which your heart is pumping. WFUBMC cardiologist Dr. Vinay Thohan explains why ejection fraction is important, and what can be done to make improvements.
